Taiwan-based artist and illustrator Phoebe Jinro Chen has developed a richly detailed visual language rooted in her fascination with the “silent narratives” found in objects, spatial arrangement, fauna, and the nuances of human gesture. Attentive to the poetry embedded in these staged environments, she treats stillness, ornament, and atmosphere as narrative devices, allowing meaning to emerge naturally through form and tension.
Her practice spans both commercial illustration and fine art, encompassing advertising, branding, packaging, and exhibition-based projects. Chen is particularly drawn to the dialogue between classical decorative sensibilities and contemporary visual culture, creating artworks that are simultaneously narrative and ornamental. Through this synthesis, her work embodies a dual quality—visually opulent yet emotionally restrained and contemplative.
Chen’s works have been exhibited internationally, including in Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Italy, France, and Estonia.
